GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Within the context of the vision, mission, and strategic direction of Kinonje Abinoonjiiag Niigan Inc., and under the direction of the supervisor. The Case Manager’s objective is to provide child protection and family services to the Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation membership on and off-reserve.
The case manager position is responsible for providing a wide range of Child and Family Services which include but not limited to providing case management of children in care and families by complying with Child and Family Services Acts, Standards and Regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Responsibilities:
• Build positive community and public relations.
• Provide protection and prevention services to the children and families.
• Regular client contact and case management.
• Ensuring proper reports and documentation are completed and submitted promptly.
• Report writing and case planning as required.
• Provide supervisor and case managers with updates and reports as required.
• Input of documentation on CFSIS and Intake Module.
• Able to handle and intervene in crisis situations in an appropriate manner.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with community resources for the clients and team.
• Must be willing to work after hours and weekends if required.
• Participate in agency events, training and working flexible hours as required.
• Other duties related to the position may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Preferred BSW degree or other post-secondary degree in a related field from an accredited University. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of CFS legislation and standards.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in Child and Family Services providing mandated/voluntary services.
• Excellent assessment, interviewing and counselling skills.
• Demonstrated crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
• Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, CFSIS and Intake Module.
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as a team setting.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of First Nations culture and values.
• Valid Full Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable fully insured vehicle.
